The Asian Dragon Horse

The Asian Dragon Horse is an very old horse, coming from Asia. They were mainly found in Japan, though also in China and Korea, though those were mostly gifts coming from families in Japan.
This breed is probably one of those breeds that were seen as Foo Dogs or Kirins.

Used as Royal horse to war horses for the samurai and certain high ranked families, these horses were seen as a sign of richdom. If you had one, it meant you had money. If you had more, you were rich.
Only the emperor has a full stable of these horses, mainly stallion he used for the battlefield or as guard horses.

Appearance
ADH have a strong muscular body, similar to a PRE or Friesian. Stallion mostly show more muscles then the mares.

The stallions are real eye catchers, even when they are the lesser part of the breed. only 30% of the ADH are stallions.
Stallion show a full manes that covers their entire neck and have a full line of manes running over their back up to the roots of the tail. On older individuals, those manes can be pretty impressive.

The mares don't have those lions manes, but common normal manes, mostly kept pretty long, though their are exception on that part. also the ridge of manes on their back only goes to halfway their back, probably to not be in the way during mating.

Geldings are very rare and not even wanted. When a stallion is gelded, he lose his full manes and only keep some scruffy manes and some fur on it's chest, which makes that they look 'dirty' to even 'feminine'.

Scales are covering the legs and you can find 2 pearl like scales on the head.
1 bigger and 1 smaller one. These scales are mostly bright colors.

The horns are thin build, 2 pronged and aren't really means for fighting, more to show of, even when some of them can use them for nice headbumps.
On their frontlegs, they have 2 long and sharp claws on the inside and outside of the leg. These, combined with their feline teeth  are their real weapons. they can move this claws a little bit and are used to scratch their attackedn to even slash it open.

The hooves are partly cloven.

Herd life
When kept in a herd, Owners must be sure to keep their males separated!
Just as lions, only 1 to maybe max 3 males (mostly related) can be kept together.
Otherwise they fight, with sometimes death as the end.

Mares are easy to keep together and are even that sweet that they would take care of each other foals.

If you only keep stallions, with no mares around them, you can keep multiple stallions together, as they have no reason to fight for. but place one mare between them and they shall fight!

Colors/genotype and markings
:bulletblack: Feline pattern
The ADH is know for it's feline like markings. Currently there are 5 markings registered
(in way of dominance)
- Tiger = TiTi / nTi
- Sand Cat = ScSc / nSc
- Clouded leopard = ClCl / nCl
- Jaguar = JaJa / nJa
- King Cheetah = KcKc / nKc

horses can show one marking and carry another, depending on which marking is more dominant.
For example: TiCl shall show Tiger marking, but can pass the Clouded leopard  gene to it's foals.

NOTE: It is possible to get a non-marked foal.
for example, if you breed nTi X nSc, you have 25% of 'nn', meaning no markings. These foals are ALWAYS sterile/not breedable.

:bulletblack: Pattern color
There are 4 colors: Black white, silver and gold.
White and black are the most seen colors, while silver and gold are rare, but seen as more sacred.
Also these colors have genotypes
- Black: FbFb / nFb
- White: FwFw / nFw
- Silver: FsFs / nFs
- Gold: FgFg / nFg

Black is the most dominant, while gold is the most recessive.
This can give some weird outcomes during breeding, for example:
You breed a black (silver carrier) with a white (silver carrier), so
FbFs X FwFs =
- FbFw = black (white carrier)
- FbFs = black (silver carrier)
- FwFs = white (silver carrier)
- FsFs = silver

the 'nn' combination seems not to exists. People think that the foal dies soon and get's reabsorbed by the mare, like in a 'WW' (homozygous dominant white) case. These foals are never born. Even if born (VERY rarely) these foals die within an hour after birth.

:bulletblack: scale colors
The scale color of the foal is also related to it's parents.
Either it get the color of it's father, it's dam or a mix between the color, though this color can vary in shade sometimes.
for example
- red scales X yellow scales = red, yellow OR orange scales
- blue scales X black scales = blue scales or dark blue scales
very rarely the scales turn out to be a different color then what the parents have. It's unknown why this happens.

Character
Most of these horses are proud and want to be handled with respect. But just like in any breed, you can have shy horses to aggressive.

Discipline
These are mostly used for dressage, though they can enter show jumping and cross country as well.
Even for endurance to carriage they can be used.
lesser for western, as they have no cow feeling and it's also not their taste. many would refuse.
weird enough, they are great racers to.
They are also suited for warlike classes, as they were used a warhorse in the past.

The Imperial (Koteino) type VS the Royal (Shinnou) type
There are 2 types, in fact old bloodlines known in this breed.

The Koteino type or the Imperial type were the horses of the emperor.
Know for their strong build and most of all, their silver or gold scales!
These horses were often stolen or kill, just for their scales, which could be sold for a lot of money
or were even used as drug or so called medication.
Only the emperor or very high ranked families were allowed to own an ADH with gold or silver scales, as sign of their rank.

The Shinnou type or Royal type had flashier scales, colored in all colors of the rainbow.
These were mostly used by lower ranks.

Breeding

*new group is gonna be made*

It's maybe not a really flashy breedsheet, but I prefer to add the info here as it is easier to change it afterwards :XD:
So here is already a part of the new information of the ADH.

I am also gonna make a breedsheet for the colors and genetics around it, but that is gonna take more time as I need to draw example for each of them :XD: or at least a few :p
